The Reason Behind the Conspiracy
Do you ever wonder why there are so many conspiracies on the assignation of President John F. Kennedy? With the copious amounts of concrete facts and evidence circulating throughout the world you would think that people would believe the hard facts; rather than the confusing and muddled conspiracies. However that is not the case. Most Americans believe that Lee Harvey Oswald was not the lone assassin on November 22, 1963. While some people have ideas as simple as a second a shooter, many others have wild convoluted ideas of the mafia, Cubans, George Bush Sr. and many others. We would like to stick to the truth.
Why is it that many people believe these conspiracies? The first reason why conspiracy theories are so popular on the assassination of President Kennedy is due to the murder of Lee Harvey Oswald by Jack Ruby. The killing of Oswald by Ruby created a twofold affect. Firstly, it ended the hopes of the police to have Oswald confess. Not only was it the death of
Oswald, but it was also the death of a concrete confession. The death of Oswald put doubt into the minds of many Americans that he was the shooter, simply because he was never able to confess to his crime. Secondly, the murder of Oswald led a conspiracy to be born. After the death of Oswald Ruby was labeled as a mafia hit man hired to kill Oswald to keep him silent, so he wouldn’t incriminate the mafia. Although this is a thrilling explanation of the death of Oswald it could not be any further from the truth. As we have told you earlier Jack Ruby was not part of the Mafia. It is not unreasonable to think at first that Ruby would be tied to questionable people due to his chosen profession (Ruby was an owner of a strip club), however upon closer examination it is obvious that the murder of Oswald is the farthest thing from a Mafia hit. The most obvious reason why Ruby’s act was not part of the Mafia is the simple fact that the Mafia does not perform hits on someone in broad daylight surrounded by police officers. |
The second reason why people favor conspiracy theories is because all the investigations on Oswald and the Warren Commission were done in secret. The investigations done
under the Warren Commission was done in secret primarily because the members did not want to deal with the press. If they had allowed the press to be present the public would have had little doubt that Oswald was the lone assassin. The public would have heard testimony from many eyewitnesses, and they would have learned that most eyewitness accounts were corroborated by balistic findings. The secrecy problems of the Warren Commission became infinitely worse when Chief Justice Earl Warren decided to honor the Kennedy family’s wishes and excluded the autopsy photographs and the x-rays from the printed account of the Warren Commission. |

The increased feeling of distrusting our Federal Government has also led to many people not believing the Warren Report. The Vietnam War sparked this feeling us distrust. This feeling only began to flourish amidst reports of the C.I.A.’s misconduct of opening mail, spying on American Citizens, and plotting assassination attempts on foreign leaders. These feelings reached a breaking point during the Watergate scandal. Americans no longer believed that they could fully trust what their government was telling them.

One of the most influential reasons as to why American do not
believe the true account of the J.F.K. assassination is due to the House Select Committee on Assassinations. This committee met from 1976-1978 to dispel the multitude of conspiracies circulation the Assassination of J.F.K. and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Committee found (just as the Warren Commission had) an overwhelming amount of evidence that pointed to Lee Harvey Oswald as the Lone assassin. Just as they were about to publish their final report a history changing discovery was made. According to sound experts the microphone on one of the police officer's motorcycle indicated that a forth shot was fired from the grassy knoll. Thus a conspiracy was formed. Unfortunately what the committee did not know was that these sound experts were wrong. The supposed fourth shot did not have the same sound frequency as a gun shot, and most importantly the “shot” was heard after the President was far away from the grassy knoll. However this minor mistake forced the committee to admit that there was a second shooter, and that the assignation of the President was indeed a conspiracy. This mistake by the sound experts changed history forever. It was because of their mistake that even more conspiracy theories began to occur instead of putting them to rest. |

several times in the Warren Report, and again in the House Select Committee on Assassinations’’Report. |
Although the hard evidence is out in the open for the American public to read, many will never read it. Most people would like to think that something more exciting or substantial killed President Kennedy, not some crazed lunatic. However, in the end the beloved President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated by one man, and one man only.
